A token is a piece of a word. For English, 100 tokens is about 60 to 80 words (Google).

xAI also lists Grok 4.6 (same prices as 4.7), Grok 4.5 ($0.30 cached) and the Grok 4.20 models (same prices as 4.3).

What changes the bill

Prompts of 200,000 tokens or more

When a prompt reaches 200,000 tokens, xAI bills every token in that request at the higher rate. On Grok 4.7 that doubles everything: $4.00 in, $1.00 cached and $12.00 out per million.

No batch discount on Grok 4.7

xAI’s Grok 4.7 page lists the Batch API as not supported, so there is no batch price for it. In the calculator, batch mode charges Grok 4.7 the full price.
